“San Antonio’s Historic Missions: Sacred or Secular?”
Dr. Thomas S. Bremer, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Rhodes College
Monday, Feb 13, 7 pm, Chapman Auditorium
Dr. Thomas S. Bremer will explore the joint leadership of the National Parks Service and the Catholic Church in shaping the usage of the historic missions in the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, balancing sacred and secular purposes, and how the UNESCO World Heritage designation may affect relationships of sacred and secular in the park.
Dr. Bremer authored the book titled Blessed with Tourists: The Borderlands of Religion and Tourism in San Antonio (University of North Carolina, 2004)
