Michael Soto

I am an associate vice president for academic affairs and professor of English at Trinity University, where I have offered courses on twentieth-century literature and cultural history since 1999. My favorite courses include the American Literature survey, the Harlem Renaissance, and Literary Methods. As Measuring the Harlem Renaissance suggests, I am fascinated by the multidisciplinary study of literature and culture, and I am inspired by the ideas and questions that my students share with me on a regular basis.

My previous books include The Modernist Nation and Teaching the Harlem Renaissance. I am presently editing volume three (1914-present) of the forthcoming Companion to American Literature.

I studied as an undergraduate student at Stanford University (B.A.) and received graduate degrees from Harvard University (M.A. and Ph.D.).

My wife, two sons, and I live in San Antonio, where we enjoy playing and watching soccer, riding our bikes, our Boston Terrier, friends, and family.
